"Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3" Promises to Deliver Unprecedented Emotional Depth with Groundbreaking Character Arcs for Sukuna and Yuta

Anticipation is high for the imminent release of Jujutsu Kaisen's third season, which finds the series' protagonist in his most precarious position to date. Following the sealing of Satoru Gojo in the second season, Yuji Itadori is now without the protection of the world's most powerful sorcerer. The character's English voice actor, Adam McArthur, has indicated that this will lead to significant confrontations.

In a discussion at Anime Pasadena 2025, McArthur highlighted the much-anticipated conflict between Yuji and Yuta Okkotsu, the protagonist of Jujutsu Kaisen 0. As a sorcerer whose power is second only to Gojo's, Yuta presents a formidable and likely overwhelming challenge for Yuji, reinforcing the latter's consistent role as the underdog.

Beyond the threat from Yuta, Yuji must also continue his struggle with the King of Curses, Sukuna. McArthur further elaborated on how the pivotal events of season two have fundamentally reshaped Yuji's dynamic with this historic entity.

The first two seasons of Jujutsu Kaisen and the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 movie are available for streaming on Crunchyroll. A compilation film, "Hidden Inventory/Premature Death," which condenses the prequel episodes from season two, is scheduled for release in Japanese theaters this May.

While official casting for the third season has not been confirmed, it is anticipated that the principal voice actors will reprise their roles, including Junya Enoki as Yuji Itadori, Yuma Uchida as Megumi Fushiguro, and Yuichi Nakamura as Satoru Gojo. Takahiro Sakurai is expected to return as Suguru Geto/Kenjaku, with Megumi Ogata as Yuta Okkotsu and Saori Hayami as Tsumiki Fushiguro also likely to feature. Characters who met their demise in the Shibuya Incident Arc, such as Nobara Kugisaki and Kento Nanami, may only appear in flashback sequences, if at all.

The narrative of the third season will continue directly from the Shibuya Incident, where the forces of Kenjaku and Mahito successfully sealed Gojo. Despite significant casualties, including the deaths of Nanami and Nobara, Yuji and his allies managed to counter the villains' assault. The arc concluded with Kenjaku initiating the Culling Games by awakening numerous non-sorcerers, a calculated move to instigate a war between sorcerers and humanity. In the aftermath, the Jujutsu society exiled Gojo, sentenced Yuji to death, and appointed Yuta Okkotsu as his executioner.

The upcoming season is confirmed to adapt the Culling Game arc from the manga. This will be preceded by the adaptation of the Itadori's Extermination arc, focusing on Yuji's death sentence, and the Perfect Preparation arc, which details the sorcerers' strategic planning for the impending battle royale. The Culling Game arc itself constitutes a large-scale, lethal tournament.

Given that the second season adapted approximately seventy chapters, and the third season is projected to cover over eighty, some narrative compression is expected to fit a standard twenty-three to twenty-four episode run. The production quality, particularly the animation for the battle sequences, is anticipated to be exceptional. As Yuji's Japanese voice actor, Junya Enoki, confirmed at Anime Expo, "I started recording already, and I can tell you, the battle scenes are on a whole different level."

Following the conclusion of the second season, an eagerly anticipated sequel covering the Culling Game story arc has been officially announced. In August 2025, the production team confirmed the development of a third season, titled The Culling Game Part 1 (Shimetsu Kaiyū Zenpen), scheduled to premiere on January 8, 2026. The upcoming season is set to adapt three pivotal manga story arcs: "Itadori's Extermination", "Perfect Preparation", and "Culling Game". The narrative will follow Jujutsu Sorcerers as they enter the Culling Game, with their primary objectives being confronting Kenjaku and securing the liberation of Satoru Gojo from the Prison Realm. A comprehensive compilation film featuring the Shibuya Incident and the first two episodes of The Culling Game Part 1 is slated to premiere in Japanese theaters on November 7, 2025, with international release planned under the title Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution from November 14 to December 12.

Crunchyroll has secured the streaming license for the season outside of Asia.
