In 2026, Iron Man enters a new era.

 Marvel is prepared to move on with Tony Stark's legacy. Beginning in early 2026, the publisher will officially publish a new Iron Man series. 

At the Marvel's Next Big Thing Panel at this year's New York Comic Con, Marvel revealed that Carmen Carnero and Joshua Williamson will lead Iron Man #1, which comes out in January. 28.  Described as a new era for Tony Stark, it will kick off when Iron Man's plan to shape his legacy is twisted into a more sinister opportunity to weaponize the 'next Tony Stark.'  The series, which is said to be about a clash of genius, introduces a new archenemy, some familiar characters, and a "shocking" comeback. In addition, Marvel unveiled exclusive variant artwork, character designs, and preview pages for the first issue.

Tony Stark will have to deal with a new, enigmatic antagonist as well as a familiar femme fatale armed with A.I.M., according to Marvel's solicitation for the upcoming series. "The unapologetic Iron Man is a once-in-a-lifetime hero – but the beating heart behind the armor is a once in a century genius."

Tony Stark designed the Iron Man armor years ago when he was facing death's door. Stark will find himself in life-or-death situations in the upcoming comic book adventures of Iron Man, leaving his legacy in doubt. "What will take place the following time death calls? Then, what kind of weapon does he create? What if it's made by someone else first? Tony has been plagued by these questions for a number of years, like a ticking time bomb that is about to go off. Madame Masque, a femme fatale, has also posed these inquiries, and with the assistance of Advanced Idea Mechanics, she is prepared to develop the next great weapon." 

The new Iron Man comic book story is teased by the author. 

In a statement released by Marvel, superstar writer Joshua Williamson expressed his excitement for the upcoming story in the new Iron Man ongoing series, which marks his powerful return to Marvel. "I'm a huge fan of Iron Man. I was a huge fan of Iron Man, and I knew it was time. "I absolutely had to complete this," Williamson stated. "Tony Stark is the most dangerous weapon in the Marvel Universe," reads a portion of the book's tagline. Tony constructed the armor when he entered the cave; however, upon further reflection, I discovered that the armor was not what he constructed in the cave. Tony created Tony." 

On January 28, 2026, Marvel Comics will offer Iron Man #1 for purchase.
