The Avengers just fielded their most powerful hero yet, making even the Hulk look like a second-stringer. However, this new member is every superhero, not just a new superhero.
Godzilla is defeated by the Centurion Battle Mech of the Avengers. With Hulk Down, the Avengers and X-Men Combine
The Black Panther unveils the "Mecha Adaptoid Centurion Mark-A" (with the "A" stylized as the Avengers' logo) in today's Godzilla Destroys the Marvel Universe #4, written by Gerry Duggan, Paco Medina, Javier Garrón, Jesus Aburtov, and Travis Lanham. The team's last-ditch effort to defeat Godzilla is represented by this enormous suit, which combines the abilities of several heroes. Among its capabilities are:
☞ The might of Thor,
☞ The Human Torch and Storm's elemental abilities,
☞ The magic of Magik and Doctor Strange,
☞ Northstar and Quicksilver's incredible speed,
☞ The Black Panther's fighting abilities,
☞ Newly enhanced optic blasts from Cyclops.
The Centurion mech, armed with a brand-new Vibranium alloy that is thought to weaken Godzilla, finally makes its entrance by making Godzilla miss a step. Given that Godzilla has already defeated the extradimensional sorcerer Dormammu and a massive Hulk enhanced with Pym Particles and vibranium weapons, its potential for success is even greater.
Our Take on the New BattleMech of the Avengers
Godzilla Destroys the Marvel Universe has been a wild ride through the Marvel Universe as the Avengers attempt to stop Godzilla with virtually every strategy in their arsenal. Nothing has worked thus far. Even Godzilla's heart was only injured by Wolverine and Magneto coring it out, which healed quickly. However, with only one issue remaining, the Avengers are coming together like never before, and their new superfast, superstrong, and supereverything mech is giving them a last chance to win. Earth's Mightiest Heroes have their best chance of victory yet with the gigantic mech under Iron Man and War Machine's control and surprises like Spider-Man's web in giant size on the way. The Super-Adaptoid, an artificial lifeform that had the ability to imitate the powers of any superhuman in its vicinity, was the mech's main source of technology, using the resources of Wakanda, the Avengers' previous foe.
These inter-property crossover stories frequently disappoint because the two companies work hard to ensure that no plot detail could make their intellectual property appear weak or unsound. Marvel, on the other hand, has constructed Godzilla into a godlike entity that has destroyed everything its heroes and villains have to offer.
Even with the debut of the Centurion, there's still a major question of whether Marvel's heroes can actually win the day (or whether, as in the recent Godzilla vs. Thor, they'll just destroy the planet in the attempt.) With just one issue remaining, Godzilla Destroys the Marvel Universe is putting the Avengers to the test in a way that few villains have before. It forces them to unleash a hidden weapon that is more powerful than any one hero, including the Hulk.
Marvel Comics has Godzilla Destroys the Marvel Universe #4 available for purchase right now.
